Whether you want an active holiday or just a relaxing time, Ardnamurchan has something to offer you.

On the land you can visit some of the many historical sites this area has to offer. From castles and lighthouses to standing stones and mines, we have it all.

Walking

If you are coming to Ardnamurchan for the walking there are many stunning and remote paths to take which will suit those wanting a days hiking to those wanting a leisurely stroll. The Sunart Oakwoods initiative has built many all-ability access areas throughout the woods surrounding Salen, including a wildlife hide where you can observe the seals in the Loch or if you are really lucky an otter or two. If you prefer a slightly faster way of sightseeing the Hotel has two mountain bikes which are available for use by guests.

Relaxing

For something less strenuous why not visit the Natural History Centre at Glenmore, or visit the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. There are some beautiful Golf courses within easy travelling distance of the hotel. The course at Traigh is a challenging course with unrivalled views as you play. It is said to be one of the most beautiful settings in the country for a golf course.

Ferry

The ferry from Kilchoan to Tobermory is just a short drive away. It is well worth a visit to Mull whether you take the car over or just go on foot spending the day discovering the story in Balamory!

Mooring

On the water whether you are arriving by your own boat, (there is a mooring in Salen Bay for the free use of hotel patrons, please telephone for details of buoy) or if you want to hire a boat there is the solution within the area. West Scotland Marine will hire you a boat to self-drive or take you to an area to fish or dive. Alternatively you may want a leisurely cruise up Loch Shiel with Loch Shiel Cruises. The boat leaves Acharacle for a cruise up to Glenfinnan from where a coach will bring you back again.

Beaches

Ardnamurchan also boasts some stunning white sandy beaches. A visit to Sanna Bay or Singing Sands is well worth it.

Altogether Ardnamurchan offers an uncrowded and unhurried holiday combined with the vibrancy and beauty of the area it cannot be beaten.

Shooting and Fishing

There are opportunities for different types of both these sports in and around Ardnamurchan. Deer stalking and salmon fishing can be arranged through the hotel on the local estates. Some day shooting is available on certain dates throughout the year at the local clay shooting club and fishing other than for salmon is readily available by boat or from the land on the local lochs.

Deer stalking certificate level one courses are also being arranged locally and anyone interested should contact the hotel for details of the next available course.
